Google Fi is its initial step in venturing into the carrier market with a different approach to the competition. Fi is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the US-run through three other networks: Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular.

Fi selects the carrier considering the strongest signal at any given time, so you always have the optimal signal! What makes Google more interesting is the fact when connected to Wi-Fi, Google Fi routes all calls, messages, and data through your internet connection. It reduces your bills if you live close to a Wi-Fi connection.

If you have the unlimited plan you will get this roaming facility completely free. For flexible plans, you need to pay the same rates while traveling.
