What is Samsung Galaxy Gear?
Do you wish to keep up with technology? Well, in this case, you are recommended to get yourself a Samsung Galaxy Gear, but be careful to also have a compatible device to use it with! Samsung Galaxy Gear is a smart-watch that is used together with all the Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets that run at least Android 4.3 or newer. When this gear has been originally launched, back on September 4, 2013, it was an Android-based device. However, on its updated release on May 2014, it came with Tizen operating system as a result to the software update. On April 11, 2014, its successor has been released, known as the Gear 2.
How does it work?
Samsung Galaxy Gear is meant to communicate with any Samsung Galaxy smartphone and tablet, in order to communicate with its host device, this gear uses Bluetooth low energy. This is also the reason why the host device needs to run with Android 4.3 or newer, as those are the only ones that support Bluetooth low energy. Do you have at least a Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition? In this case, you can benefit of the Samsung Galaxy Gear! You have even newer releases of Samsung Galaxy? Even better!
The Samsung Galaxy Gear works with an Android-based operating system, which provides a minimalistic interface and a navigation that is based on gesture. In order to be able to use this gear with a host device – a smartphone or a tablet – you need to install the Gear Manager application.
How to use it
In order to use it, follow these steps:
– Inside the charging case of this gear, you will find an NFC tag, which you need to use in order to download the Gear Manager application.
– After downloading and installing it, you will be able to start using it.
– The Gear Manager uses Bluetooth to pair the gear with the device you wish to use together with it.
– Also, you will use the Manager to configure the settings and to manage and install applications via Samsung Apps.
Although it has been much awaited, the Samsung Galaxy gear was not very appreciated, because of its limited compatibility with smartphones and tablets and also because it came out with a very limited number of apps available. However, this device is interesting and can come in handy, as you will be able to use it to monitor your smartphone or tablet anytime, right from your wrist!
